High Speed Stream
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Event Time: 2025-05-17T04:16Z ( ACE: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
Activity ID: 2025-05-17T04:16:00-HSS-001 (version 4)
Event End Time:
Peak Solar Wind Speed (km/s): 760.0
Date of first appearance of coronal hole in EUV at east limb:
Note: Sudden change in rotation of B-xyz components and sudden flip in phi angle from negative to positive orientation at 2025-05-17T04:16Z, which matches the polarity of the candidate coronal hole. The large candidate coronal hole spans across several tens of degrees of longitude in the southern hemisphere, and had reached W30 by 2025-05-17T04:16Z. Corresponding increase in speed and temperature continues to increase even after B-field components settle down to nominal levels. Speed reaches a sustained value of 760 km/s. From approximately 2025-05-24T20:02Z to 2025-05-25T10:09Z, a secondary brief speed elevation to around 470 km/s accompanied by a rise in temperature may indicate a brief further elevation in this same high speed stream.
